Keeping Good Records



While you are out prospecting for customers, it is important to keep track of your activity with them. Keeping a database with information on your prospects will help you sort out the “hot” prospects from the “luke warm” ones.

Whenever you identify a potential customer, it is wise to use a CRM, Customer Relationship Management file on them. This is a marketing tool which can be very valuable for assessing the results of your interactions with prospects. It is an on-line tool where you can enter an unlimited number of prospects’ names, addresses, telephone numbers, employers or business names, and keep a record of the dates of your conversations with them.

You may encounter someone who is genuinely interested in your products or services, but may not be in a position to buy them right now – they may not have the money, they may have to discuss this with another person who makes buying decisions with them, i.e., a spouse or business partner. In this case, you would want to write down the information in the CRM and establish a diary date for future contact.

Keeping these kinds of records enables you to determine how valuable your “book of business” is. You can more accurately determine the income potential that you have. You will know who you have sold to, who would be a repeat customer, who is ready for a sale this week and what they are likely to buy. You can add the information which will help you to make decisions on who to contact, when to contact them, and what to offer them, including dates.

It sounds very tedious, but you will grow to love this tool and keep it for many years to come. If you have multiple streams of income, you will be able to record the opportunities and products you have offered and determine if any of your other products from other businesses are suitable to your customers as well.

Face Book provides many opportunities to market your products. In order to be successful, we have to take advantage of the opportunities that Facebook presents for us to market our products.

One way that we can market our products is by placing ads on pages such as these so that people have an opportunity to make a decision about purchasing the products. The message has to be given in a few sentences so as not to overwhelm the reader. There has to be enough information to pique their interest.

Before you place your ads, you should make sure that you have a website and a blog so that they can acquire more information about your product or service. Your website should contain information about your products, your services, and some information about yourself so that the visitor can make a decision on whether to purchase products or engage in services from you.

A good website attracts the prospects that you desire, it will be easy to navigate, and there will be enough information for the visitor to make a decision. When they click onto a link or a page of the website, the page must quickly change, otherwise the visitor my get frustrated with waiting and decide to visit another website. It is important to check your website periodically to make sure the pages are turning fast enough and that the links are not broken. If the link is broken, you will get an error message instead of the page you desire.

Depending on the target market you are attracting, it must relate to them in a way in which they like to be approached. For example, if you are trying to attract housewives, you must address the issues that housewives have when seeking products or services. If you are trying to attract teens or children, the pages have to be colorful, creative and contain themes to which they can relate. A little humor helps. There are several target markets and depending on the target market you are trying to approach, the website must be designed in such a way to attract them. I will talk more about target markets in a later discussion because of the complexity.

If you are attracting many target markets, each one has to be able to attract a variety of visitors. Many of the people in the different target markets are visual which means that the content that you place on the site has to be attractive to the eyes of the person who is visiting. The images have to be attractive and the videos must be engaging. When writing the content for the website, we must exercise wisdom in choosing the right words.

Finally, make sure that the site contains contact information to reach you in order to purchase the products or partake of the services. You can include your telephone number, fax number and e-mail address or you can provide a contact form for the visitor to request information from you through the e-mail. If the information is missing or difficult to find, you may lose an opportunity for a sale.
